Rakesh Sharma, India's first and 138th space traveler of the world, was brought into the world on 13 January 1949 in Patiala, Punjab. Rakesh was extremely keen on science since youth. It was his propensity to make ruined things and keep a nearby watch on electronic things.

Rakesh Sharma, the primary Indian to venture out to space, impacted the world forever when he traveled to space and subsequent to arriving in space for 8 days, he made his arrival in Kazakhstan on 11 April. He is a motivation for each Indian today.
Rakesh Sharma, the real Hero of the Soviet Union was an Indian Air Force pilot who flew the Soyuz T-11 launched on 3 April 1984 under the InterCosmos program. Sharma was the principal Indian to make a trip to space.
Rakesh Sharma was born on 13 January 1949 in Patiala, Punjab province, India. He received his primary education from St. Georges Grammar School, Hyderabad and moved on from Nizam College Rakesh Sharma joined the Indian Air Force in 1970 as a test pilot at the 35th National Security Academy. Since 1971, he flew in an aircraft. Given his skills, in 1984 he was appointed to the position of Squadron Leader and Pilot of the Indian Air Force.
On 12 September 1982, he became a member of the space-going group on behalf of the Soviet Intercosmos Space Program and ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization).
He was retired as Wing Commander. In 1987, he joined Hindustan Aeronautics Limited and filled in as Chief Test Pilot in HAL Nashik Division till 1992 . He was later transferred to Bangalore while on the Chief Test Pilot of HAL. He was additionally connected with the light battle airplane Tejas.
Spaceflight
He became the first Indian man to go into space in 1984, flying to Soviet space rocket Soyuz T-11, which was released on 2 April 1984 from the Baconur Cosmodro, Kazakh. They stayed in space for 7 din 21 hours and 40 minutes. During this time, he conducted many scientific and tantric experiments, including 43 experimental sessions. A large portion of his work has been in the field of bio-medication and far off detecting.
His crew also held a conference on joint television with Moscow official and then Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. When Indira Gandhi asked what our India looks like from space, Rakesh Sharma replied, All is better than the world. At that time, India became the 14th country to send a person to space.
Award
After returning from space, he was awarded the rank of Hero of the Soviet Union. The Indian government also awarded him its highest award (in times of peace), the Ashoka Chakra, the Ashok Chakra was also awarded to two more members of the Soviet Union, Malayashev and Streklov, who went to space along with Rakesh Sharma.
Personal life
He and his wife Madhu also learned the Russian language in 1982 when they were living in Russia. His son Kapil is a film director and daughter Kritika is a media artist.

• He used to do yoga to avoid diseases occurring in space -
Sharma practiced "Zero Gravity Yoga" in 1984 and his effort was well praised by Rokosmos. At the 2009 conference, Sharma had also advised travelers going to space to practice yoga before going to space to avoid diseases there.
• Rakesh Sharma was awarded India's highest award Ashok Chakra -
Rakesh Sharma and his two Russian comrades were also honored with Ashok Chakra, the highest award for peace period. This was the first and the last time a foreign national was awarded the Ashoka Chakra.
